Do you want to fly fish in one of the most gorgeous locations in the world?
Then this is your trip! The Sedona area was recently voted "the most beautiful area in America" by USA Today, and we'd have to agree. Stunning red buttes and monoliths, lush forests, deep canyon gorges, and views that take your breath away, all surround this magnificent landscape. Combine that with some great trout water, and you have one of Arizona's most spectacular fly fishing settings!
We offer fly fishing excursions through specially managed private water sections of historic Oak Creek Canyon. Oak Creek is a small, classic trout stream that flows through the most beautiful canyon in the state. The stream was once home to a number of hunting and fishing lodges in the early 1900's that were visited by presidents, movie stars, and hardcore outdoorsmen, and was the setting for Zane Grey

Bass and Striper on the Fly
4 Hours

Fly fishing for bass and stripers on Lake Pleasant is one of our favorite offerings, and an absolute must for any angler looking for excitement and a challenge unlike any other experience in Arizona. Lake Pleasant's unique clear waters create tremendous fly fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, white bass and striped bass year round. Fish in these fertile waters feed on bait during every season, creating an unusual opportunity for fly anglers to aggressively fish baitfish pattern flies almost daily on one of Arizona's most beautiful waterways.
Lake Pleasant boasts a tremendous population of largemouth bass and white bass, as well as the largest population of stripers in central Arizona. These fish are often found "blitzing" or "boiling" their bait on the surface, which creates some of the most exciting fishing opportunities found anywhere! Catching all three species in one day is considered the "Pleasant Grand Slam."
Along with the exciting fly fishing that awaits you, you will also discover a world of lush vegetation and a tremendous wildlife population that thrives in and around the water environment. Aside from being expert fly fishermen, our guides are experts on the flora and fauna of the desert, as well as the native history of the area, and are excited to share their knowledge with you.
Our bass and striper on the fly adventure is a perfect trip for intermediate to advanced anglers, but also makes a great beginners trip as many anglers find learning to cast from a boat easier than in a stream. This is also a great trip to fish one fly angler and one conventional angler together. There's not many places where the two techniques can work together, but out here it's the perfect pairing.
As Arizona's only Orvis endorsed outfitter, we offer the finest equipment available and the finest guides in the state to create superior fly fishing adventures! Your all-inclusive adventure will be outfitted with a fully tournament rigged 21 foot Ranger bass boat with large front and rear casting decks, gas and guide, beverages, fly rods and reels, line, leaders, tippet, and flies.

Carp on the Fly (In Town/Urban)
4 Hours
|
Fly fishing for Carp has been a favorite activity among guides and industry professionals for years, and is now regarded as one of the elite fly fishing challenges in the world. Considered the smartest of all freshwater fish (and most beautiful if you ask us), Carp are a challenging species to purse with a fly rod, and are revered as one of the ultimate freshwater species to land on a fly.
Carping is a true test of an anglers ability. Carp have incredible vision and one of the keenest senses to their surroundings. Anglers must execute everything perfectly for a Carp to take a fly. Once hooked, Carp are nothing short of an underwater missile ready to scream your drag and put you to your backing.
Arizona's warm desert climates are the ideal breading grounds for great Carp fishing excursions. With more than a dozen different species of Carp and Koi, and hundreds of waterways throughout the Phoenix valley, Arizona is the Mecca of Carp on the fly opportunities.
Most Carping is done on light weight gear, 4-6 weight rods and 6x-7x tippet. Some bigger water requires beefing up the stick to an 8-9 weight rod to help pull the fish from obstacles. Almost all fishing is done by sight, meaning you're hunting and seeing the fish before ever making a cast. This is extremely exciting fishing, and will have your blood pumping hard. Carping is also a fantastic excursion for beginner salt water anglers. Testing and building your skills against Carp is a great way to prepare for bonefish, snook or any other shallow water flats game fish. Due to the nature and technical aspects in dealing with hooking and landing these fish on a fly rod, we recommend this adventure for intermediate to advanced anglers only. Our guides are the best in the business at putting our clients on fish and opening the exciting world of Carping to our clients, but they're not God's (although some think they are). Anglers should have a certain fly fishing base before attempting this adventure.
As with all of our guided trips, all the gear and equipment needed will be provided. Our in-town urban trips fish a variety of ponds, lakes and canals within the Phoenix/Scottsdale city limits and are walking trips, and we do recommend being in decent shape to walk around the shorelines. You will not need waders or boots for this trip. Our big water trips on Lake Pleasant and Canyon Lake fish from 21 foot Ranger Bass Boats or 24 foot Ranger Bay Boats so there is plenty of room for casting.

Do you dream of float tubing a pristine mountain lake in search of monster browns and 'bows?
Then this is your trip! Let The Hook Up outfit you on a fly fishing adventure on one of Arizona's beautiful high country lakes or streams. Stunning views, gorgeous pine forests, lots of Elk and Deer, and some incredible trout fishing all await!
We offer a variety of destinations throughout Arizona's high country, including locations in Sedona, Flagstaff, the Mogollan Rim, and the White Mountains. The Hook Up is the only guide service in Arizona to be issued a state-wide guiding permit by the National Forest, which enables us to operate on every body of water throughout Arizona's high country. This access allows us to offer exciting fly fishing opportunities at the best locations during the best times of the year!
The streams and lakes in these regions are all gorgeous classic trout waters, each offering the angler a different reward. Many of the waters are blue ribbon fisheries, meaning they consistently yield trophy sized trout, and are strictly managed for catch and release only. Grand Canyon Pike Adventure
4 Hours
|
Anglers heading to the Grand Canyon or looking for a summer heat escape to the pines should consider what many of our guides consider their favorite destination, Lake Mary in Flagstaff, Arizona. Flagstaff is the gateway to the Grand Canyon, and North of Phoenix about 90 miles. At cool elevations above 7000 feet, this Arizona gem of a waterway is home to some of the best Northern Pike fishing in the southwest!
Pike are extremely aggressive fish, and a favorite fish for conventional anglers and fly fishermen, as they are known for violent strikes and hard pulling battles. We outfit our trips with 21 foot Ranger bass boats or 24 foot Ranger bay boats so there is plenty of room to fish how ever you prefer. Most of the time pike stalk the shallows for baitfish, which makes this an active fish for everyone. Fast moving baits are most effective here, and heart stopping explosions from attacking fish are the goal at all times!
Lake Mary is surrounded by lush ponderosa pine forests and is home to dozens of species of waterfowl and birds including Ospreys and Bald Eagles. It is also along the main Elk migration route, so it is not uncommon to hear and see herds of Elk along the banks.
This adventure is all-inclusive, providing Ranger bass boat, gas, guide and all the gear and equipment needed for the day. This is a great trip to fish for a half day or full day!
