Scales 2 Tales Fishing Charters

I booked a full day backcountry trip with Chris Hanson of Scales 2 Tales Charters. I lucked out and got some great weather. We decided to make the trip out to Everglades National Park launching from his dock in Key Largo. We made a quick run out, got into the mangroves, and tossed out our lines. It didn't take long for our first fish, and they just kept coming after that. Chris was very attentive the whole trip, and gave me exactly the right amount of instruction. I never felt uncomfortable asking Chris if I was doing something right (or for his help correcting me when I did something wrong!). When the action would slow down, Chris shot off to another one of his hotspots. Never having done any backcountry fishing before, Chris made sure to give me tons of variety. I ended up putting my first redfish, black drum, snook, tripletail, sheepshead and ladyfish in the boat. Chris's knowledge of the backcountry was quite impressive. He could navigate around the maze of mangroves as if he had built-in GPS, and knew exactly what paths would have enough water at any point in the tide. The added bonus of seeing all the wildlife was just a cherry on top. Back at the docks, Chris filleted up the fish we kept, bagged them, and sent me home with them on ice. I'm looking forward to my next trip with Scales 2 Tales Charters!
