Rob was a great guide. I had been following him on twitter and facebook for a while, and decided to hire him to target some carp on the fly rod after seeing one of his posts about on it. We went to Four Mile Run, a location that I had fished before, but was only familiar with one small stretch. Rob showed me tons of different holes and spots to fish that I wouldn't have found exploring on my own. We caught several bluegill and sunfish incidentally, and some were actually really big! This was urban fishing at its finest. The conditions were decent for carp, although Rob was hoping for a bit more sun. Sure enough, just as Rob predicted, there were plenty of carp hanging around our spot. Some were absolutely enormous - easily 20 pounds, if not pushing 30. We even saw a largemouth bass that was about 5 or 6 pounds. The only problem was the carp just weren't feeding. Catching carp with bait isn't always the easiest task, and catching them on the fly is just downright challenging. If the fish aren't feeding, there's little you can do. While we didn't come up with any carp, the trip was more than worth it from the knowledge I learned from Rob. I highly recommend hiring Rob to learn new waters, target a species with which you're unfamiliar, or - for the experienced angler - just brush up on your skills.
