At ArkAnglers, our number one product is information; timely, accurate, reliable information. If we can provide that in a coherent and humble way, through our website and our fly shops, the success our customers experience on the river will be reflected in our business as well. Operating fly shops in Salida and Buena Vista, as well as the region's largest guide service, puts us in a unique position for assembling that information. We get daily reports from throughout the river corridor from our guides, our guests, and our retail customers. These accounts of individual experiences are rather like snapshots of distinct places, times, and the use of specific techniques or fly patterns. They are anecdotal, dependent on the perception and decisions of the teller of the tale, but taken as a whole, and combined with our own observations and the data we crunch each day, these accounts combine to formulate the clearest understanding of what is happening in the fishery. Add $45 for a second angler. Perhaps nothing distinguishes the Colorado fly-fishing experience like casting to cruising cutthroats at timberline. The hike up through the forest, thin air and delicate wildflowers, spectacular views down valley, the remaining snowfields still dripping in the higher cirques...it all combines with the crystal clear water and outsized fish to impart an otherworldliness to the fishing. Despite the attention lavished on the fabled waters of the Arkansas River, the valley is also home to one of the greatest concentrations of alpine lakes in the Rockies, most of which hold healthy populations of trout. As the summer unfolds, ArkAnglers guides follow the receding ice to higher and higher elevations, sharing this special fishing experience with intrepid guests through September.
Conducted under permission of the San Isabel National Forest, our high elevation trips vary in intensity from short walks to multiple hour hikes, depending on the experience and ability of our guests. Some lakes are easily worked from shore; others are best fished from inflatable float tubes that we pack in with us.

For those who want to get the most out of a full day float trip but are unfamiliar with the Arkansas or would like to first refresh their technique, the Wade-Float Combo combines a half day instructional wade trip with a full day float. Normally conducted the afternoon before the float, the wade component of the trip is designed to hone one’s cast, line management, and fish fighting technique in preparation for the float trip. Since maneuvering of the boat often restricts a float guide to verbal instruction, the wade trip provides a more hands-on experience at an instructional pace that is tailored to the needs of the individual guest.
