We offer daily guided fly fishing trips to waters within Virginia and the Charlottesville area such as the James River, Shenandoah River and others in the Blue Ridge Mountains for trout and smallmouth bass. All guided fly fishing trips are limited to two guests plus your fly fishing guide. Full Day guided fishing trips include lunch served stream side. All equipment is provided free of charge if needed.

All-day Trout Fishing
I don't get to fish nearly as often as I'd like...I can count the days during the year I fish on one hand, so when I go out, I want to learn something, have fun, and maybe even catch a fish or two.
I have been on several guided trips with Albemarle Angler. Most recently, with Scott, whom I have been with twice. Each time, my casting gets better, my knot-knowledge grows, and I land fish. It's always a great day out, no matter the weather. The folks at the shop are always helpful about fly selection, and the last time I was in, I borrowed boots and waders and had the warmest winter-weather fishing day I have eve had. I should've had them help me with my purchases to start!
Albemarle Angler is a fantastic local resource, and their guides are able to skate a careful continuum of helpful, encouraging, teaching and providing real service. I love these guys and this shop. Whether you live local, are in from out of town, or something in between, call these guys or stop by. Their private waters are quiet, beautiful and full of great fish.

Full Day Smallmouth Float
I had such a great time on my first trip with Scott that I called Albemarle Angler back up and booked him again. Scott once again demonstrated his ability to put me on lots of fish, and lots of quality fish. Luckily, we had great conditions for topwater fishing this time which is always a blast. Scott was able to one-up himself this time though. He helped put my girlfriend, who is an extreme novice fly fisher, on plenty of fish. He even got her on a nice 18 inch plus smallmouth! I got a huge largemouth and smallmouth of my own as well. Scott proved he can consistently put his clients on fish all day, regardless of conditions or skill levels.

Full Day Smallmouth Float
I got Scott as my guide. Scott was great, and knows the waters very well. Despite some challenges with the conditions - high and very dirty water - Scott was able to figure out the right combo to put me on fish. We got at least 15 smallmouths, along with several big sunfish and a very nice largemouth bass. Lunch was included in the trip, and I was very surprised to find Scott brought along a portable gas grill! He cooked us up some cheeseburgers with bacon and sauteed mushrooms and onions. What a great touch for a great trip!
